JAXA's asteroid explorers, Hayabusa and Hayabusa2, brought back samples from the asteroids Itokawa and Ryugu to Earth, and NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission returned samples from asteroid Bennu.
For the first time in the world, asteroid samples from all three of humanity’s asteroid sample return missions are simultaneously on display in an exhibition open to the public. Related materials such as operation logbooks are also displayed, and scientific results obtained from the analysis of the samples are explained. In addition, the scientific significance of JAXA’s next sample return mission, "MMX" (Martian Moons eXploration) is introduced.
This exhibition was supported by the Supporting Member System of the National Museum of Nature and Science.
