Feature and Habit |
---|
The dorsal fin (0.3 to 0.6m) is falcated, and locates two-third of the body length from the tip of rostrum. The dorsal side of their body is gray to gray-blue and the ventral side whitish, sometimes with white round scars. The ventral side of the flukes is dark. Sei whales have 220 to 400 black baleen plates (no more than 0.8m) per side with whitish or grayish brown fringe. The 32 to 60 throat pleats end between the flipper and the umbilicus. They inhabit in offshore waters. They migrate to the higher latitude in summer. They are single or in pods of several whales. |
