Feature and Habit |

The Bryde’s whales have three prominent ridges from the blowholes to the tip of rostrum. The dorsal fin (as high as 0.5m) is strongly curved and the tip is pointed. The body color is dark gray. This whales have 250 to 370 baleen plates per side, which are short (no more than 0.4m) with coarse fringe and dark gray. The 50 to 70 throat pleats reach to the umbilicus at least. The offshore populations are migratory, but some nearshore populations are residential. |
