They have many callosities over the lower jaw and the head The flipper is broad and round. Body color is mostly black, and some northern right whales have white spots at the jaw and the ventral side. The baleen plates (up to 2.8m) are dark colored, with fine fringe bristle, and 200 to 270 per side. They inhabit coastal waters. They make extensive migration. |
