■開催趣旨
生物多様性は様々な生物間の相互作用によって創られてきました．その作用は植物と動物，植物と菌類，菌類と動物，あるいは植物と植物の間など複雑多岐にわたります．このような「生物の相互関係が創る多様性」は多くの研究分野の人々を魅了し，今後もますます研究が発展していくでしょう．生物多様性は，種多様性，生態的多様性，遺伝的多様性などとして捉えられていますが，これらの創成にはいずれも生物間の相互関係を抜きにして語ることはできません．
このシンポジウムは，世界の第一線で活躍する研究者による多彩なトピックについての講演からなり，生物の相互関係によって創られる真の姿の生物多様性について認識が深まることを期待します．
The relationships between biodiversity and biological interactions of,
e.g., plants (sensu lato, including algae)-animals, plants-fungi, fungi-animals,
and plants-plants, are increasingly receiving attraction from biologists
of many different research fields. This growing field is a frontier in
biodiversity research and provides new insights into understanding of the
real nature of biodiversity, which has been known as species biodiversity,
ecological biodiversity, genetic biodiversity, and so on. We hope that
this symposium is a good opportunity for participants to communicate different
aspects of biodiversity formed by biological interactions and, in particular,
for young Japanese biologists including graduate students to learn influential
presentations by world's top-level biologists.
