Body elongate. Supraorbital cirrus present. Occipital crest present in males. Cup-sharp labial disk behind lower lip. Gill opening continuous across ventral surface of head. Soft rays of caudal fin unbranched. Color: body grayish, usually lacking white or yellow spots, or with very few spots if present; dorsal and pectoral fins blackish, sometimes with white lines along rays; dorsal spine orangish in males; caudal fin blackish in males, membranes white in females. Size: attaining to about 6 cm. Distribution: Andaman Sea, Christmas Island, Iriomote Island, Taiwan and Philippines. Remarks: occurring on supralittoral zones or rocky shores. (Hisashi Imamura)
