Carangoides ferdau (Forsskål, 1775) Blue Trevally

D VIII + I, 26-34; A II + I, 21-26; GR 7-10 + 17-20 = 24-29; V 10+14.
Body oblong, compressed. Snout rounded; dorsal and ventral profiles almost equally convex. Lobes of second dorsal and anal fins falcate. Breast naked to insertion of pelvic fins; naked area not extending to pectoral fin base. Straight part of lateral line shorter than curved part, with 21-37 weak scutes posteriorly. Color: body silvery green or blue dorsally, silvery white ventrally; 5 or 6 dark vertical bands laterally on body with numerous small yellow spots dorsolaterally; caudal fin yellowish. Size: maximum length about 70 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Hawaii, north to southern Japan. Remarks: occurring in coastal waters. Feeds mainly on crustaceans, mollusks, and fish. Marketed fresh.
