Caranx heberi (Bennett, 1830) Blacktip Trevally

Body oblong, compressed; dorsal profile strongly convex, ventral profile slightly convex. Adipose eyelid moderately developed on posterior half of eye. Breast usually naked ventrally with a small patch of prepelvic scales, rarely scaled completely; straight part of lateral line almost entirely with scutes (30-40). Color: body yellow-greenish silvery-bronze dorsally, silvery white ventrally; no black opercular spot; all fins yellowish; upper lobe of caudal fin black distally in juveniles and young adults. Size: maximum length about 85 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in Indo-West Pacific, from eastern coast of Africa to New Guinea. Remarks: Inhabits clear coastal waters. Feeds on fishes and crustaceans. Marketed fresh and dried.
