Tenualosa reevesii (Richardson, 1846) Reeve's Shad

Body somewhat deep, compressed; belly keeled with 17 prepelvic and 14 or 15 postpelvic scutes (31 or 32 scutes in total). Mouth terminal; upper jaw with a distinct median notch. Frontparietal striae on top of head absent or invisible. Posteriormost dorsal fin-ray not filamentous. Scales cycloid without perforation. Color: body silvery dark blue dorsally, silvery white ventrally, with a series of blue spots midlaterally on body. Size: maximum at least 50 cm SL. Distribution: Andaman Sea to China. Remarks: pelagic, inshore schooling fish.(Seishi Kimura)
