Body relatively short, compressed. Head slightly compressed; jaws subequal; gill opening not reaching anteriorly to a vertical through preopercular margin. Pelvic fins almost separated; frenum absent. Scales ctenoid; head, breast, and pectoral-fin base naked. Sensory canals and pores present on head; reduced longitudinal pattern of sensory-papillae rows on cheek; a pair of sensory papillae just behind chin. Color: head and body subtranslucent, with red intramuscular stripes on midlateral body from eye to posterior part of caudal peduncle, continuous with 6 short red oblique bars on ventral half of tail of body; iris red with two white longitudinal lines; anterior nostril orange or red; 3 rows of bright white intramuscular blotches on dorsal surface of centra and side of belly; 13-15 small saddle-like red spots on head and body; caudal fin with some black vertical lines, as well as a black mid-basal spot. Size: 2.0 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found in coral reefs.
