Periophthalmus minutus Eggert, 1935 Small Mudskipper

Body moderately elongate, compressed. Head slightly compressed; profile of snout steep; dermal cup-like process developed beneath eye; single row of conical teeth on each jaws. Pelvic fins almost separated; frenum absent. Scales on head and body cycloid. No sensory canals and pores on head. Color: head and body dark brown, with dusky saddles; first dorsal fin reddish, with numerous white spots and white distal margin; second dorsal fin reddish with a brown stripe at middle of fin. Size: 7.8 cm SL. Distribution: Andaman Sea and West Pacific. Remarks: found in intertidal zone of mangrove areas.
