Dermogenys siamensis Fowler, 1934 Siam Halfbeak

Body elongate, subcyrindrical. Lower jaw prolonged, javelin-like, upper jaw longer than wide. Base of dorsal fin shorter than anal-fin base; anterior anal-fin rays modified in male; second anal-fin ray with a pair of small spinous processes at distal part; pelvic fin abdominal; caudal fin rounded. Dorsal surface of upper jaw with scales. Color: head and body light brown, somewhat silvery; red spot at anterior part of anal fin. Size: 5 cm SL. Distribution: Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Remarks: found in quiet waters around aquatic plants of freshwaters and brackish estuaries. Surface swimming fish, feeds on small insects and crustaceans. Viviparous.
