Body deep, rhomboid, compressed. Mouth protruding downwards, with small slender teeth on both jaws; ventral profile of lower jaw slightly concave or almost straight; lower margin of eye located below level of mouth gape. Cheek and breast completely naked. Color: body bluish or greenish silver dorsally, brilliant silvery-white ventrally; a broad yellow or golden band usually over lateral line; no dark marking on nape; distal half of spinous portion of dorsal fin jetblack: anal fin yellow or orange. Size: maximum length about 14 cm. Distribution: found in tropical Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: feeds on benthic invertebrates. Marketed fresh or dried.
