D VIII+9; A I, 7; P1 14-17; LL 33-38; GR 7-9 + 18-22.

Body moderately elongate. Chin with 2 short barbels. Lachrymal region lacking preorbital scales. Both jaws, vomer and palatines with teeth. First dorsal spine short. Second dorsal and anal fins with scaled area basally. Color: body and silvery pink dorsally, shading to silver o side and ventrally, with 1 yellow stripe on side of body; opercle with silvery blue area; dorsal fins and upper lobe of caudal fin with several reddish cross bands; tip of 1st dorsal fin lacking black area. Size: reaching to ca. 20 cm. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, including the Andaman Sea, South China Sea, southern Japan and northwestern Australia. Remarks: found on sandymuddy bottoms in bays.
