Body moderately elongate. Maxillary, dentary and peripheral intermaxillary teeth develop fine serrations on anterior and posterior edges; teeth in single row on jaws except for anterior lower jaw with 2 rows. Dorsal-fin origin slightly anterior to gill opening. Tail slightly longer than body. Color: body and head light brown; head and chin with brownish spots in small to medium-size; 2 brownish bars on head; 12-16 brownish bars behind gill opening. Size: maximum length ca. 46 cm. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, including Andaman Sea, central Philippines and Gulf of Thailand. Remarks: obtained from depths of 50-80 m.
