Carapace quadrangular in cross section, having no spines and no median dorsal ridge. Large adults with bump anterior part of snout. Color: body brownish yellow with one white spot edged in black or rimmed with small black spots; small juveniles yellow with round small black spots almost equal to eye in size. Size: maximum 45 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in tropical Indo-West Pacific from Red Sea eastward to Tuamotu Islands, north to southern Japan. Remarks: occurring in coral reefs; feeding on a wide variety of benthic organisms.
