Body moderately deep and compressed. Opercle, subopercle, preopercle and interopercle serrate. Teeth on jaws uniserial. Caudal fin rounded; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base. Color: ground color orange, gradually darkened dorsally; a narrow mid-dorsal stripe from snout (not upper lip) to caudal-fin base; pectoral, pelvic and anal fins yellowish, other fins pale or subtranslucent. Size: 8.5 cm SL. Distribution: Java Sea, Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean. Remarks: found in coral reefs; symbiotically associated with anemones Heteractis agnifica and Stichodactyla mertensii.
