Chrysiptera brownriggii (Bennett, 1828) Surge Demoiselle

Body ovate, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle smooth. Suborbital naked, with entire ventral free margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, those in outer row incisor-like. Caudal fin emarginated; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base. Color: two color varieties recognized; one with yellow ground color with a bright blue stripe on back from snout to caudal peduncle as well as small blue spot on each scales, whereas the other drab, olive gray or brownish gray ground color with two vertical white bars on middle of body and caudal peduncle; in dark-colored form, posterior part of operculum and small area just behind pectoral-fin base yellow. Size: 8.0 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-Pacific. Remarks: found around surge reef flats with rubbles.
