Body ovate, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle smooth. Suborbital scaled, with smooth ventral margin. Teeth on jaws uniserial, incisor-like. Caudal fin emarginate; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudalfin base. Color: head and body pale brown, except for posterior part of tail white or yellow; boundary between pale brown and white/yellow areas on body with a black vertical bar (its width subequal or slightly wider than eye diameter). Size: 8.5 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found around branching corals in coral reefs; feeds on benthic algae.
