Body ovate, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle serrate. Suborbital naked, with serrate ventral margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, incisor-like. Caudal fin emarginate; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudalfin base. Color: head and body dusky, darkened posteriorly and abruptly turn to white in caudal fin; a small black spot at dorsalmost part of pectoralfin base; juvenile tinged with blue and with orange over back and pale-edged black ocellus at posterior part of dorsal fin (ocellus may persisting in adult). Size: 7.0 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found in shallow inshore coral reefs.
