Body ovate, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle serrate. Suborbital naked, with serrate ventral margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, incisorlike. Caudal fin slightly emarginate; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base. Color: head and body blackish gray, scattered with numerous blue dots or short lines; dorsal, anal and caudal fins with some blue lines and/or some series of small blue spots; base of pectoral fin black; juvenile bluish, with a paler-blue-edged black ocellus. Size: 9.0 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found in inshore rocky or coral reefs.
