Body ovate, compressed. Posterior margin of preopercle serrate. Suborbital naked, with serrate ventral margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, incisor-like. Caudal fin emarginate; no conspicuous projecting spine-like rays at upper and lower edges of caudalfin base. Color: variable in color; head and body dusky, with paler center of scales; base of pectoral fin black; in many localities, caudal fin and posterior part of dorsal and, sometimes, anal fins yellow. Size: 8.0 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found in coral reefs.
