SYNANCEIIDAE Minous coccineus, 10.1 cm SL (photo by Ukkrit Satapoomin) Minous coccineus Alcock, 1890 Yellowfin Stinger D X-XI, 11-12; A II, 9-10; LLp 18-19; GR 11-14. Body oblong, moderately compressed. Posterior lacrimal spine much longer than anterior lacrimal spine. Posterior tip of pectoral fin reaching a vertical through middle of anal fin base. Dorsal fin spines moderately strong; first dorsal fin spine shorter than second spine. Color: body with numerous irregular bands dorsally; no markings ventrally. Inside of pectoral fin yellowish, with irregular black spots. Caudal fin pale, without dark markings. Size: maximum standard length 85 cm. Distribution: widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific, from South Africa east to Taiwan. Remarks: occurs in coastal waters in depths of 23-81 m.
