Head and body covered with small spinules except for snout and posterior part of caudal peduncle. Nasal organ wi th 2 bi f id f leshy flaps. Color: body greenish brown, paler ventrally; dorsal and anal fins yellowish, pectoral fins pale with yellow rays; caudal fin yellow with dark margin. Size: maximum 30 cm, commonly to 25 cm. Distribution: Widespread in tropical Indo-West Pacific from South Africa eastward to Indonesia and the Philippines, northward to southern Japan. Remarks: occurring in seagrass bed and mangrove areas.
