Slender threadfin bream

D X, 9; A III, 7; P1 15 - 17; LLp 47 - 48. Body relatively slender, 21.7 - 26.3 % of SL. Suborbital without a large backwardly-pointed spine; three rows of scales on cheek. Membrane between spines of dorsal fin not deeply incised; anal fin with III spine and 7 soft rays; pectoral fin short, not reaching to a vertical line through anus; pelvic fin short, not reaching to anus when appressed; upper lobe of caudal fin falcate, with filamentous tip. Color: head and body reddish pink dorsally, silvery ventrally; two yellow stripes on head. Size: 18.5 cm SL, commonly 16 cm SL. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific. Remarks: found on sandy bottoms around rocks at depths of 10 - 125 m. Caught by handlines and trawls; marketed fresh.
