D VI - I, 9 - 10; A I, 8; P1 16 - 17; LR 30 - 31; PDS 17 - 19. Body slender and subcylindrical, compressed posteriorly. Head slightly depressed; lower jaw projecting beyond upper jaw; gill opening not reaching anteriorly to a vertical through preopercular margin. Pelvic fins united medially. Scales ctenoid, excluding nape, breast, and pectoral fin base with cycloid scales; head naked, excluding posterior half of occipital area scaled. Sensory canals and pores present on head; distinct transverse sensory-papillae rows on cheek; uniserial transverse row of sensory papillae just behind chin. Color: head and body dusky with irregular mottles; yellow triangular spot at uppermost of pectoral base. Size: 5.0 cm. Distribution: Andaman Sea and West Pacific. Remarks: found in tidal estuaries, especially around rubbles in mangrove area.
