D 9 - 11 (usually 10); A 9 - 10 (usually 10); P1 16 - 19. Head and body covered with small spinules except for snout and posterior part of caudal peduncle. Nasal organ with 2 bifid fleshy flaps. Color: body greenish brown, paler ventrally; dorsal and anal fins yellowish, pectoral fins pale with yellow rays; caudal fin yellow with dark margin. Size: maximum 30 cm, commonly to 25 cm. Distribution: widespread in tropical Indo-West Pacific from South Africa eastward to Indonesia and the Philippines, northward to southern Japan .
