Research Contents
(1) Systematics and phylogenetics of mushroom-forming fungi, emphasizing on Phallomycetidae (= gomphoid-phalloid fungi, including earthstars, stinkhorns, coral fungi, and some truffle-like fungi) and Hydnangiaceae (Laccaria and Hydnangium).
(2) Biogeography of globally distributed mushrooms.
(3) Biodiversity of mushrooms based on specimen-based data and metagenomic data from soil DNA.
(4) Monitoring of radionuclide accumulation in mushroom fruit bodies.
(5) Biodiversity of symbiotic organisms in mushroom fruit bodies.
Activities
Comments
My research is heavily based on intensive fieldwork, specimen curation, and DNA analyses. Fieldwork has been conducted in all major continents including Africa and South America, but not in Antarctica yet.
