Research Departments
The Museum’s research-related structure, as shown in the organization chart below, comprises of five Research Departments (Departments of Zoology, Botany, Geology and Paleontology, Anthropology and Science and Engineering); two gardens (Tsukuba Botanical Garden and Institute for Nature Study); three information centers ( Center for Collections, Center for Molecular Biodiversity Research and Center of History of Japanese Industrial Technology); and the Showa Memorial Institute.

Booklet The National Museum of Nature and Science Research Projects and Collections provides detailed information on the research conducted by the Research Departments, a major function of the Museum. The booklet was published in 2008 with the objective of publicizing the Museum’s research activities.
